Hello, I’m Rosanna Henderson and I am a mosaic artist.
I make mosaics because I love the creative process and take pride in the finished result. As soon as I was introduced to mosaic-making in 2007 by a friend, I was hooked. As my skills have developed through experimentation, trial and error, with help, advice and inspiration from others, I’ve become fascinated by the possibilities and scope this wonderful art form offers.
My style and imagination have developed over the years and although I still make a range of different types of mosaics, I particularly like taking an item or a view and giving it an abstract slant. I love colour, texture and nature and I spend a lot of time outdoors so these provide me with my main inspiration.
A key skill is in the cutting and I enjoy the intricacy of making a very detailed piece. As a very neat and organised person I like the idea of ‘going for it’ with an abstract but as someone pointed out “even your abstracts are neat!”
I use traditional glass and ceramic tiles known as tesserae. I often incorporate stained glass, pebbles, and other mixed media items. These give my mosaics more interest, texture and depth.
Mosaic art is my passion and my aim is to open people’s minds to the variety and varied forms a mosaic may take.
My overall aim is:
“To live the life I love and love the life I am living”
