A brand new, exciting and creative year to look forward to. Traditionally I look back over the past year so here goes:
MOSAICS were very successful. Most pieces were by commission so I was kept busy. One of them was a particular challenge, a Football Shield for Acton and Ealing Whistlers Football Club. A large piece and very different to my normal work but I really enjoyed making it and they were delighted with the results. I hope to continue with more commissions this year but I’ll also be making some smaller pieces to sell direct and at various events. Thank you to everyone who commissioned a piece and kept me on my creative toes.
FUSED GLASS has really taken off and I certainly feel I have increased my skill, ability and creativity in this fascinating art form. I love learning and experimenting with glass. As well as my abstracts I have started to make scenes which I frame. I am also having fun combining the glass into my mosaics to unique effect.
EVENTS: Once again BEAT (Borough of Ealing Art Trail) was my best event. It was my 7th year so I am definitely a veteran! The lovely Jane Stonebridge of Arty Jane hosted our venue this year (she was with me in 2022 for her debut BEAT), along with newcomer Nikki of Nix.Artz I was delighted to be exhibiting in Jane’s wonderful garden studio. As well as my usual mosaic work I also had a lot of fused glass (which sold very well) and a new range of garden mosaics. We had record numbers of visitors and sales so we are all looking forward to BEAT 2024, dates to be announced.
I also took part in The Clock Tower Winter Exhibition organised by fellow artist Frances Scott as well as exhibiting at W3 Gallery in Acton.
I am delighted that the Tower House Gallery in Northumberland is now stocking my fused glass.
A new exhibiting opportunity this year arose with BAM (Boston Manor Arts Market). This was an experimental event organised by Hounslow Borough, I Do Handmade and Summer of Culture held in the grounds of Boston Manor Park. Professionally organised with great cabins to exhibit in, I participated in events in October and November. I really hope they make these regular events in 2024 as they would be a great addition to the art and craft exhibiting scene.
Last year this WEBSITE had an overhaul and update to include my fused glass. My friend Sue helped with the re-write, proof reading and checked that all the apostrophes were in the right place. I hope you agree that it looks fresher, informative and full of lovely pictures.
2024: whilst I don’t make New Year Resolutions, I do like to set AIMS. So going forward I intend to up my game with my fused glass art so will be pushing and challenging myself even more. I would love to get my artwork in to a high end gallery. I will be (hopefully) making some really eye catching pieces so would love the space to display my work properly. If anyone has any contacts, or a gallery, I would love to hear from you.
I am also keen to exhibit at a large Art Exhibition and have a few venue ideas in mind, If anyone has any recommendations or contacts, again, please get in touch.
Since 2020 I have given 10% of all my sales to Ealing Foodbank which I will continue to do in 2024.
I really appreciate all my supporters and followers through this website, Facebook and Instagram. I enjoy hearing your feedback, constructive criticism and ideas. There is no greater praise for an artist than someone wanting to own a piece of our work, so please keep buying and commissioning – not just from me but all the other talented, small artisans that you know.
It just remains for me to say I wish you all health, happiness, fun and joy for 2024.
What a productive year! Love the shield – and the future England Lionesses. May 2024 bring lots of lovely commissions and A Major Exhibition.
Thanks Sue, it was certainly an interesting and varied year. Let’s see what 2024 has in store for all us Creatives.
